On 13 August, Yevhen Yevhenovych Ihnatov celebrates his 85th birthday.
While studying at the institute in autumn 1962, together with fellow student enthusiasts he founded Ukraine’s first rugby team.
«POLITEKHNIK» helped establish rugby as a sport in our country. He coached more than 45 masters of sport of the USSR and Ukraine in rugby and field hockey.
In 1967–1968, Yevhen Ihnatov worked as an engineer in KPI’s gas-turbine engineering research laboratory.
His students have always carried the KPI banner with distinction in Kyiv, Ukraine and across Europe and the world.
