Participation and abstract requirements · 2024 archive
Applications and abstracts were due to departments by 14 March 2024; departments submitted them to the organising committee, Room 311, by 21 March 2024.
Participants submitted an application and a conference abstract electronically in Microsoft Word. The historical application templates use macros; the original instructions specified Alt+C to reopen the form for editing.
Abstracts should state the problem and its relevance, identify an unresolved issue, review recent research, set out the aim, briefly describe methods with sources and author modifications, and present results and conclusions. Conclusions should explain the scientific novelty and potential applications.
The required length was two full or three A4 pages, excluding the application form. Text was to use Times New Roman, 12 pt, single spacing and no hyphenation.
The template provides examples of the structure and captions for figures, tables and equations. Editable fields were highlighted in yellow; the original rules required retaining the highlights and the initially assigned abstract filename.
Figures must be importable into Word and fit within the text area, with all elements grouped. Labels must remain legible when a page is reduced to A5.
Equations should use Word’s equation editor (Insert → Symbols → Equation), at 12 pt. Each equation is centred on a separate line after its first reference, with at least one line of space above and below. Its number appears in parentheses on the right.
Definitions of symbols follow directly below the equation in order of appearance, on a new unindented line beginning with “where” and no colon. Definitions may be aligned vertically or presented inline.
References follow the text after one line of spacing and are formatted according to DSTU 8302:2015. Entries are numbered, with citations in square brackets in the text.
Submissions underwent preliminary review before the final programme was prepared. Supervisors were responsible for the content and absence of plagiarism; non-compliant submissions were not considered.
