Students and teaching staff of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute visited Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant. The visit to the nuclear facility was another joint initiative under the strategic partnership between JSC NNEGC «Energoatom» and the leading technical university, aimed at promoting nuclear power and training future specialists for the sector.
The students visited the KhNPP Training Centre and had a unique opportunity to observe personnel working on a full-scale simulator of the unit control room. They were also shown how reactor operation is monitored and the algorithms followed by operating personnel during scheduled and emergency situations.
The students heard directly from the head of Energoatom about career prospects and the nature of work at the company, its social guarantees, and its strategic mission for the state. Pavlo Kovtoniuk delivered a lecture in a warm atmosphere and personally answered the future specialists’ questions.
«Working with young people is one of Energoatom’s key areas of activity, while building a modern, competent and responsible workforce is the foundation of success. The company plans to construct new, modern power units that will require bold and forward-looking engineers ready to work with the technologies of the future today», emphasised Pavlo Kovtoniuk.
Energoatom provides opportunities for students to realise their potential at its production facilities. Every year, KPI students undertake industrial and pre-graduation placements at the company’s separate divisions. Over the past year, 8 industrial placements and 48 pre-graduation placements were completed, and 18 graduates of the Kyiv higher-education institution found employment at NNEGC branches.
Another 28 Polytechnic students who are performing well academically and have concluded tripartite training agreements with the company receive personal scholarships from JSC NNEGC Energoatom.
The partnership between Energoatom and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is a shared contribution to training young, successful and highly sought-after specialists.
